Using AI Trainers to Personalize Sales Agent Training

The Problem: Training Sales Agents Effectively

For organizations that frequently introduce new financial products, ensuring that sales agents are properly trained is essential. However, when agents are asked to sell products they are unfamiliar with, several challenges can arise.

New agents may lack confidence when explaining product details, while experienced agents may struggle to quickly adapt when new offerings are introduced. Without sufficient preparation, this can lead to inconsistent sales performance and incomplete product explanations to customers.

The traditional training process typically involves scheduled training sessions conducted by human master trainers. Agents are grouped into batches and receive the same training curriculum before being evaluated by the trainer.

While this approach helps establish baseline knowledge, it presents several limitations.

  1. Lack of personalized assessment

Traditional training programs rarely assess each agent’s starting point. All participants receive the same training regardless of their prior knowledge or skill level.

  1. Insufficient master trainers and high scheduling burden

The number of qualified human master trainers is limited, and each training session requires significant preparation. Trainers must schedule sessions individually, pre review materials before each session, and dedicate time to coaching agents one on one. This effort makes it difficult to scale training across a large and geographically distributed sales force, especially when new products are launched frequently.

  1. Limited feedback on improvement

When agents do not pass an evaluation, they are often informed of the result but receive limited guidance on how to improve specific weaknesses.

These constraints make it difficult to provide timely and individualized training for a large sales force.

The Approach: AI Powered Coaching and Evaluation

To address these challenges, SCBX developed AI powered training agents designed to simulate realistic training scenarios and provide automated performance evaluation.

The system creates AI avatars capable of real time voice to voice conversations with sales agents. These avatars go beyond simple customer role play. Depending on the training objective, the AI can take on different roles across a range of scenarios.

For product knowledge training, the AI can act as a product coach, guiding agents through the details of specific offerings such as insurance products for AutoX or lending products for other subsidiaries. For communication and service skills, the AI can simulate challenging customer personas, such as an angry customer in a call center scenario, allowing agents to practice handling difficult interactions in a safe environment.

During each session, the AI avatar presents different scenarios and engages the agent in a live dialogue. The system analyzes the agent’s responses, evaluating factors such as product knowledge, clarity of explanation, and communication effectiveness.

Based on the conversation, the AI trainer can diagnose the agent’s current capability level and identify specific areas that require improvement. The system then provides targeted feedback and generates additional practice scenarios tailored to the agent’s needs.

AI powered evaluation

In addition to coaching, the system includes an AI Evaluator that monitors each role play session between the agent and the AI trainer. At the end of each session, the evaluator analyzes the full interaction against a structured checklist that covers best practices, required disclosures, scoring criteria, and market conduct standards.

The evaluator then generates a detailed result showing whether the agent complied with each item on the checklist, producing a final score such as 18 out of 20 checklist items met or an overall pass or fail outcome for the session. This gives agents clear and immediate visibility into their performance and specific areas for improvement.

Because the system is AI driven, agents can access training anytime and anywhere, without needing to wait for scheduled training sessions or participate in fixed group batches.

From Experimentation to Organizational Impact

This approach transforms traditional training from a static, one size fits all program into a continuous and personalized learning experience.

By enabling agents to practice through realistic simulations, receive immediate feedback, and be evaluated against structured checklists, the system helps improve both product understanding and communication skills.

At scale, AI driven training can significantly reduce the operational burden of organizing large training programs while ensuring that agents receive the support they need exactly when they need it.

The result is a more confident sales force, better customer interactions, and a more efficient training process across the organization.
