The SCBX Internship Program is truly the opportunity I hoped for during my undergraduate journey. It stands out as one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had both personally and professionally. Although this role does not directly relate to my academic degree, this summer allowed me to explore my field of interest and experience corporate life firsthand. Looking back, three key elements made this internship especially impactful on my career path.
Meaningful Project Ownership
One of the most valuable parts of this internship was the opportunity to contribute directly to real, high-impact projects. Being trusted as part of the team – not just as an intern – gave me a strong sense of purpose and responsibility. I worked on the SCBX AI Outlook Volume 2, where the project lead entrusted me with full ownership of the research for Act III: Responsible AI and Act IV: World Models & AGI. This level of responsibility made me feel like a true member of the team and helped me grow both technically and professionally.
Freedom to Explore
Another reason this internship was so memorable is the flexibility to explore different areas within the team. While my primary focus was the AI Outlook Project, I also had the chance to support other initiatives – such as contributing to the AI newsletter published on the SCBX website and in the R&D community group chat, as well as assisting with specialized research topics. This wide exposure helped me understand what I enjoy, develop a diverse skill set, and gain a more holistic view of how the team operates. It’s rare to find an internship that offers such broad exploration within one program.
Flexible Work Environment
SCBX’s flexible working culture was also a major highlight. The freedom to choose when and where to work allowed me to optimize my schedule and consistently deliver high-quality work. This reflects how SCBX values output over strict structure. It also taught me important time-management skills that I know will be essential throughout my future career.
Overall, what makes the SCBX Internship Program truly special is that interns are treated like other full-time employees. We’re trusted, challenged, and given opportunities to create meaningful impact. For anyone considering applying in the future, this is an internship where your contributions genuinely matter – and where you’ll gain experience that stays with you long after summer ends.
