Internship Story: Finding a Community at SCBX
When I first walked into SCBX, my expectation was to gain internship work experience. But what I didn’t expect was to find such a community that would shape my personal and professional journey in ways I will never forget.
From day one, I was welcomed with genuine warmth, by assigned mentors and senior colleagues who took the time to guide me and cared deeply about my growth, and fellow interns who quickly became close friends. Whether in meetings, at our desks, or during casual coffee chats, every interaction reflected how truly supportive the SCBX culture is. I felt valued not only as an intern, but as an entrusted member of the SCBX Talent team. That sense of belonging made my onboarding experience incredibly meaningful.
Learning Through Real Ownership
During my time in the SCBX Internship Program, I had the opportunity to take ownership of my work from the very beginning, leading projects, driving initiatives, and experiencing challenging tasks I wouldn’t have encountered anywhere else. The technical and transferable skills I gained from the hands-on responsibilities that I have given were truly invaluable.
Yet, something equally important as the experience itself is the connections I built along the way. Inspiring conversations with mentors, hours spent exchanging ideas with like-minded interns, and meaningful collaborations across teams have enriched my learning beyond the scope of the internship. I found myself forming relationships that were just as valuable as the skills I gained, as these connections shaped my summer as much as any project I worked on.
OneXplore Day: A Highlight of the Internship
One of my most memorable moments was OneXplore Day, which brought together over 150 interns from 13 companies across the SCBX Group. What made the experience especially meaningful was that I not only participated but also helped organize the event and being a part of the team that made it come to life.
Through engaging activities, networking sessions, and inspiring panels, all of us gained a deeper understanding of how the SCBX Group operates at scale, and how interconnected each business truly is. Beyond the knowledge, the event opened doors to new friendships, diverse perspectives, and thoughtful conversations that extended beyond our office walls.
A Transformative First Step into the Corporate World
As a university student entering the corporate world for the first time, the learning curve was steep, but in the best way possible. As an intern, my ideas were listening, my contributions were valued, and my perspectives genuinely mattered. I was encouraged to step outside my comfort zone every single day and while I learned more in three months than I ever expected, it was the people who transformed the experience into something far greater. This internship gave me far more than practical skills and real-world experience. It brought me a community, a network of mentors, leaders, and friends who will continue to inspire me long after the summer ends.
