People, Business, Nation : SCBX’s Three-Tiered Approach to Organizational Transformation with AI

At the Techsauce Global Summit 2025

At the Techsauce Global Summit 2025, in the session titled “From Intelligence to Impact: Human–Business–Economy,” Dr. Arak Sutivong, Deputy CEO of SCBX, shared key lessons-learned on organizational transformation through AI, viewed through three critical lenses: People, Business, and Nation. He also shared the aspiration of SCBX’s virtual bank to become an AI-native bank

AI Uplifts Human Behavior and Potential

In the pre-AI era, acquiring knowledge required significant effort—such as visiting libraries and sifting through multiple books. Today, AI and digital technologies have made information accessible at our fingertips, dramatically boosting productivity.

However, as information becomes easier to access, the human role must evolve—from being “answer seekers” to “question providers.” AI can now handle the task of finding answers, exercising creativity, thenthe art of asking the right questions essential skills for humans to thrive alongside technology.

Organizational Transformation Requires Explicit Goals and Systemic Uplift

SCBX, a financial technology group, has set a vision to become an AI-First Organization, with three key aspirations:

  • 75% of business operations and workflows must be AI-enabled
  • 100% of employees must be AI-literate and confident in using AI
  • 15% of employees must be AI talents

SCBX has experimented with numerous AI initiatives within the Group and is now entering the next phase: centralizing knowledge and driving impactful themes—such as enhancing customer experience.

Major Challenges: Legacy Systems and Human Mindset

SCBX faces two major challenges in keeping pace with AI development:

  1. Legacy Systems– These were not designed to integrate with AI, requiring the creation of AI Wrappers around existing systems. While not perfect, this approach is practical and functional.
  2. Mindset– Many individuals are still unfamiliar or uncomfortable with emerging technologies. Change must be gradual, supported by building AI Literacy across the organization—from understanding core concepts to recognizing best practices and associated risks, such as Prompt Engineering and Responsible AI.

SCBX categorizes internal users into “Users” and “Builders,” with tailored development paths. Users are empowered to use AI confidently and responsibly, while builders are equipped to build AI solutions, reducing external dependency.

At the National Level: AI Sovereignty is Key to Self-Reliance

Dr. Arak emphasized that national transformation mirrors organizational change:

  • There must be a “Tone from the Top”—leaders must signal and communicate the importance of AI.
  • Investment in infrastructure is essential, including Data InfrastructureBOI IncentivesTalent Attraction, and Education Systems that prepare youth for the future.
  • The nation must aim for AI Sovereignty—the ability to be self-reliant in technology over the long term.

He cited China as an example: 30 years ago, the country had no major tech companies. With strong government support in education and funding, China is now a global AI leader.

Vietnam is also emerging as a tech-forward nation, investing heavily in R&D. This signals a shift toward a truly tech-driven economy and shows that with clear plans and commitment countries in the same region can also build strong AI and R&D foundations.

SCBX’s Key Takeaways Across Three Levels

  • People – Must possess at basic AI competency. Without it, the risk of being replaced by technology is high.
  • Business – Must build AI Competitiveness—using AI to gain market advantage and differentiation.
  • Nation – Must establish AI Sovereignty to foster economic growth and safeguard technological security in the long run.

In closing, Dr. Arak shared:
“We can no longer avoid AI. The real question is: how will we adapt and grow with it—as individuals, organizations, and nations?”
